Café du Monde this ain’t, but here’s my attempt at recreating a café atmosphere for our first assignment in Photographic Illustration. We were asked to make an appetizing table top illustration that says “breakfast” and has a pleasing sense of time and place.
I used a Canon 40D with a 24-105 lens (ISO 320, 1/80 sec @ f4). The scene is lit with window light and a work lamp partly diffused by a flexible plastic cutting board.
Thank you to the nice folks at Rue Cler, a lovely parisian-style restaurant and bakery in downtown Durham. They were nice enough to let me take over a table for an hour.
I ate the set when I was done.
